What are the 5 contacts for?

I ordered that unit as a replacement for another one that failed after 1300km of use.
As the original one is dead, I conducted a teardown in order to understand the design... Only 2 of the 5 connectors are used. What are the 3 other meant for? Those 3 additional contacts are not used in the battery also!
Design is simple and construction is not robust (resin falling appart with water ingress risks).
